MESA is used to obtain viable sperm from the male reproductive tract, it is intended to be used in men that had a vasectomy and it’s reversion failed, or in those men with a reproductive tract blockage. An operating microscope is used to retrieve the sperm and it is an office procedure, performed under local anesthesia.
