Assisted Hatching

Is a new technique used to help embryos break out away from the shell (or zona pellucida) by creating a small hole with micromanipulators in the outer lining so they are able to attach to the walls of the endometrial easily. This procedure is the result of a combination of mechanical and chemical manipulation. There is no physical evidence that children who are born from the embryos with assisted hatching have had problems at birth, physical defects or intellectual problems in comparison with other children.
